My name is Dan Foran. I started Sounds Like Fun! in 1999 at the urging of friends and relatives. Up until that time, I had provided music for several school and church functions, as well as a few parties. People would rent equipment for me to use on which I would play tunes from my own CD collection. After a while, it became apparent that all would be better served if I were to purchase my own professional-quality DJ equipment ... and so I did! A common response from people regarding suggestions for their event was, "That sounds like fun!" Thus, Sounds Like Fun! was off and running.
As they say, "the rest is history." My wife, Karen, and I have provided music for a wide variety of occasions, numbering several dozen per year. We appreciate spending these hours together just as much as we enjoy observing our clients and their guests having good, clean fun! The majority of dates that we play are still for friends and acquaintances, many resulting in subsequent engagements. "Word-of-mouth" continues to be our most productive reference.
We are both Wisconsin-born and resided in the "cheese state" until our recent retirement and move to Florida. Our daughters, Kristi and Kelli, both grew up there and are now finding successes on their own. Even though our family lacks the ability to play instruments, music has always been an integral part of our lives. Reflecting over the years, it seems that we always had music playing in some way, shape, or form.
In June of 2008, we both retired from our positions in public education, I as a Spanish teacher at Ozaukee High School, and Karen as a para-professional at Decorah Elementary. I enjoy most sports, and have been a certified WIAA volleyball official since 1992. I also have provided statistical assistance at many televised sporting events in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. Digital photography and slide-show productions are current interests that occupy a great deal of my free time.
We take great pride in our service, and do all we can to make each and every event special and memorable. A good deal of time is spent in preparation for each of our engagements.
